Covenant One Takes – Julia Watkins

Aug 24, 2020    Julia Watkins    Help Assemble Welcome Bags

Covenant's commitment to the Mezzanine at Freedom goes beyond dollars and cents. Members of the congregation are reaching out to build relationships, too. One early initiative will be to co-host Census and voter registration events in September.

In today's edition of One Takes, Julia Watkins shares how the Mezzanine is welcoming new residents from across the economic spectrum. The project is unique because it has both affordable and market-rate units side-by-side. Julia moved into an apartment at the Mezzanine earlier this year.

You can join the hospitality effort by helping to provide supplies for welcome bags.

The missions team is also asking for volunteers for the Census and voter registration events. You can prepare snacks, serve as a greeter or help people complete forms.

"Where we'd imagined that Covenant might be involved in things like potluck suppers or book clubs, we're now imagining what is possible outdoors," Julia said. "And we have some exciting ideas."
